About
The Yardz Hotel sits on the corner at 77 Church St, Geelong West — one block over and about 600m east of the Pakington St strip. Long-time locals still call it the Saleyards Hotel and that older name still appears on the Facebook page and some directory listings; the pub itself trades today as The Yardz. It's a Geelong West venue but it sits off the Pakington Pub Trail rather than on it — a different kind of suburb local, less polished bistro, more weeknight regular.
The bistro runs lunch from noon to 2pm and dinner from 6pm to 8:30pm every day. The kitchen's two parmi cards are the reason to plan a visit: Tuesday's $13.50 chicken parmi is the cheapest weekly parmi we've verified in the directory — a clear undercut on the next-cheapest weekly deal at $22 — with a $17 porterhouse and pot for the steak side of the table and happy hour 6pm–8pm. Sunday is 'Parmis of the World' — the kitchen rotates through nine themed parmi variations from different cuisines around the world. The beer garden out the back doubles as a function room. Fox Sports runs across the bar TVs through the week, and Thursday is meat raffle night with the Social Club.
